The Importance of Remembering and The Power Of Returning

The Importance of remembering

Unplugged living has become a lifestyle choice for many seeking to reconnect with nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. At the heart of this movement is a desire for sustainability and independence, allowing individuals to live harmoniously with their environment.  This is how it should be. We must remember human beings have lived as one with the earth for most of our existence, only in the eyes of modern man does the moss of the forest seem hazardly rather than homely.Embracing this lifestyle reconnects you to your ancestors and frees your soul.

The consequences of connection

The modern world requires us to constantly be on call and available, whether it be at the call of our superiors or our peers. This is what is expected and asked of us if we want to move up socially, and lead a good traditional life. The issue is that humans are not built too, nor asked to live like this. This constant connection and lack of self agency is what is leading to the increasing rates of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Throw away the smart phone and return to the flip phone, or not, But at least take the time to disconnect and breath and just allow yourself to be.

the Benefits of connection

Taking the time to connect to the world around you is the best deposit you can make for yourself. With how busy modern life convinces us we are, we forfeight that which is our birthright, the world. Instead of staying inside all day with work and entertainment, gift yourself time outside, with fresh air, and fresh grass, where the wind flows through your hair and the soil gives you footing. This is your true home and all else is a distraction. The Trees, bees, and all manner of things miss you, so take the time and go say hi.

Put down the phone, Pick up the pen

We have instant documentation at our fingertips. At the moment something worthwhile happens or is said we open up either our camera or our notes app. In our journey to disconnect and reconnect we must cease this form of documentation and think on what humans of the past did. instead of snapping that photo or typing that thought i implore you to sit with a pen and note book. Draw the vastness in the world in front of you. Write your heart onto the page with ink. Express yourself with tools and words and art. If my words have reached you but you find yourself without a good notebook for the outdoors . You can find a good reliable notebook that will house your journey and last you a lifetime here.
